Learning Difficulties in Music
Jessica offers support for music students with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, ADHD / ADD
and those on the Autistic Spectrum.
Available for any age, standard and musical style
Informed by Jessica learning to work around the challenges of her own Dyspraxia with Irlen Syndrome, these sessions give practical strategies suited to the student’s individual challenges.
Focusing on what might help, not the label, these sessions are part mentoring part practical to reduce the SPLD’s impact on a student’s musical journey.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from these sessions. We can experiment together with strategies to suit your specific learning style.
Using a coaching style the sessions follow this plan.

Identify
Assess and understand how a student's individual challenges affect their music making.
Explore
Use new strategies for practice, learning rhythm, preparing for an exam.
Action
Use these strategies over a number of weeks, working towards a specific measurable goal.
Evaluate
Evaluate whether the new strategies have helped the student through assessing a performance suitable to their context.
“Just because some people can do something with little or no training, it doesn’t mean that others can’t do it (and sometimes do it even better) with training.”
